Buddy Wake

Buddy Wake is an app designed for people who struggle to wake up and stay alert in the morning.

This project started from a simple frustration. I have always struggled to wake up on time, as do many people around me. After trying and observing many alarm apps, I realized most are either hard to use or too similar to make a real difference. This led me to design an app shaped by how people respond to both positive feedback and negative consequences.

“As I designed, the challenge shifted from waking up on time to understanding how design can shape the moments when willpower is not enough.”

3. Screen Size Setup

This project started as a way to solve a personal problem, but it gradually became an exploration of behavior rather than just an alarm design. Using a punishment mechanism forced me to think more carefully about what motivates users and what instead creates discomfort. Working with Loveable also made the process more iterative, as each step required constant evaluation and adjustment. If I have more time on this project, I would explore a feature that discourages late-night screen use by applying a similar behavioral approach.
